Congratulations to the following members of the our studio who were recognized at today’s Honors Convocation:
Andrew Philbrick and Karl Zelle both received the Howard Robertson Brass Scholarship. Mr. Robertson was the band director at City High School for many years. This endowed fund was established in his memory by his wife, Vona Robertson, to benefit gifted brass students.
Patrick Bigsby is the recipient of a Presidential Scholarship, which is awarded by competition to entering first year-students who have an ACT composite score of 30 or higher and rank in the top five percent of ther high school graduating class or have a 3.80 cumulative grade-point average.
Jeremy Crawford and Karl Zelle were recognized by the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, which offers invitations to members of the senior class wo have maintained the highest average standing (minimum 3.80 grade0-point average) in all studies and who have completed at least 100 semester hours of college course work.
Josh Calkin was recognized again as the recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student as Mentor Award, and played beautifully along with all of the members of the Old Capitol Brass Quintet at the end of the program. The convocation also recognized graduates from the school of music, including our own Claire Sievers, who will receive her Masters degree this spring. We will all miss you Claire!
